Baby Massage Course

Six week baby massage courses are suitable for all babies from birth to 1 year old and their parents or primary caregivers. Some of the benefits of attendance are:

  • Developing your baby’s body awareness and coordination
  • Stimulating your baby’s circulation, digestion and nervous system

The classes are small and supportive, and the relaxed atmosphere includes time for informal discussion between parents. Please do not worry about class times coinciding with sleep or feeding times, babies are welcomed as babies, and are expected to cry, sleep, need cuddling, feeding and changing.

Exploring Stillness

This is a  5 week ‘Introduction to Meditation’ course. Marj has been practising Yoga for 30 years and teaching in the Dorchester and Weymouth areas for over 15 years. Marj trained with Derek Thorne and is a prominent member of the YogaLiving Community. She teaches meditation and Yoga in the Advaita Vedanta tradition .  This is an ancient and authentic wisdom teaching which directs us to the oneness and truth underlying this whole experience. This is suitable for beginners, or people who wish to refresh their practice.

Kid’s Yoga

Yoga for children provides children of all ages with a rewarding physical and mental experience by incorporating the core values of Yoga and the Montessori teaching method.  Kim trained with YogaBeez which is built on the  foundation of respect for the child as an individual creative being. Emphasis is placed on educating, empowering and exercising the WHOLE child.

Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Course with Jem Shackleford

A full 8 week course designed for people who wish to integrate mindfulness into their lives.

This course aims to help you take better care of yourself and get the most out of living. The majority of people completing the course report lasting benefits including:

  • being better able to relax
  • having more energy and enthusiasm for life
  • improved self-confidence
  • an increased ability to cope more effectively with both short and long-term stressful situations.

This full course costs £180 and includes eight weekly 2 hour sessions, an all-day retreat, all course materials, pre-course telephone interview and supporting telephone calls/emails between sessions should you need to discuss elements of the course.

Mother and Baby Yoga

This class runs continuously in 5 or 6 week courses. A small, friendly, supportive class where we do some stretching, breathing and relaxation to counteract the stresses and strains of motherhood, and some stretching, playing and singing with our babies. Babies are welcomed as babies, and are expected to cry, sleep, need cuddling, feeding and changing. Some of the benefits of attendance are:

  • Flexibility (not only in body but in life!)
  • Helping to realign and strengthen your body
  • Addressing pelvic floor and abdominal issues
  • Releasing shoulder and upper back tension (from feeding and carrying)

Postnatal Pilates and Pelvic Health

This class works on building the strong foundation required for your return to formal exercise. Supported by Sammie Mcfarland, Woman’s Pilates & Health Coach, you will work through gentle, restorative exercises, alongside being advised on vital nutrition for a deep Post Natal recovery. Receive a ‘tummy gap’ check and know that you are working towards restoring optimal pelvic health.
Bring your new bundle, leave them with a carer, or bring the carer with you for support.

Sammie is also an experienced maternity nurse and breast feeding consultant.

This class has just 8 spaces and is suitable for new Mums after their 6 week postnatal check or when c-section scars are healed. Occasionally we have a babysitter on hand to assist with your bundle if you would like an extra hand.

Restorative Yoga

Open to all abilities and anyone interested in profound rest and self care. This four-week block of classes will introduce you to the ‘art of relaxation’ and spirit-nourishing yoga. We will explore gentle, subtle postures that use yoga props for support and active-relaxation, bringing the nervous system into balance, and creating a sense of wonderful rejuvenation. This will be a lovely, calming floor based practise with limited places to allow plenty of time and space to set up.

The Chakras

Yoga is a system built on ideas about energy and the way it flows around us and through us. Central to this idea is the chakra system – vital centres which relate to, and affect, the body, mind and emotions. When they work well, our energy flows, and we feel balanced and at peace with ourselves. When there are problems, we can feel blocked, unbalanced, weak, unable to do what we want or express ourselves. Understanding the chakras can help us understand our self better, and ultimately work to heal old injuries and become freer.

The first of the eight sessions will be an introduction to the subject, and then each of the subsequent sessions will deal with a particular chakra. Each session will include a practice.
